In defense of the second part of the first one, I actually called her being able to airbend even after Amon took her bending. I rationalized it as “he couldn’t take what she didn’t have” because at that point in time she wasn’t an Airbender.

Everything else, though…. sad to say, but a lot of the time that’s how the real world works(at least in Lin and Bolin’s cases).
