Happy 10,000th post! :D
I’ve finished my swimsuit for Asami. I ended up completely remaking it from the original because I wasn’t liking where the stripe was sitting. I’m actually really happy with it now, and it’s super comfy to wear. :3 now I just gotta figure out what to wear under it…. lol
Ok, photoshop to the rescue! Gonna remake this tomorrow but am trying to decide on stripe placement and length. Facebook friends are leaning to 3 so far. Thoughts?
Ok more progress… idk how I feel about the shorts. I haven’t sewn the shorts on yet, so I may just take them out. :P and uuugh I sewed the white stripe to high. xD Hopefully it doesn’t look bad.
So I’m in the process of making Asami’s swimsuit for fanime because why the hell not? Anyway, this is just the base(still gotta add the white accents), but I’m debating whether or not I should add shorts like this….
or a kind of built in skirt look like this….
or just leave it the way it is. :/ It’s hard to tell because she never stands up, and the length on the bottom is always changing so idk.

I’m excited to share with you the final cover art (Korra drawn by Joaquim Dos Santos and painted by me, with a background painting by Fred Stewart) for the upcoming Korra Book One: Air art book, published by our good friends at Dark Horse Books. This was a real labor of love (heavy on the labor) for Mike, Joaquim, and me and all those who helped as we put this book together, and we are so proud of all the great artists’ work inside and can’t wait to share it with all of you. The plan is to do one of these art books per “book” of Korra (so four total), which is daunting yet fantastic.

The Legend of Korra: book 1 finale was a blast.
listen here u lil shit
Buoy, you guys shore get crabby a lot.
I’m so done.
So is Tarrlok.
Chief Bei Fong. Kicking ass and not giving a fuck about names.
I began rewatching LoK last month for the first time since the summer with a fellow AtLA fan/friend of mine. When we hit the rally in “The Revelation” I turned to my friend with a bit of astonishment and said, “This is so clearly mirroring the Cultural Revolution I can hardly stand it.”
A studio art/French double major, she clearly had no idea what I was talking about, even though she decided that nodding along was the best course of action to take in response to my claim. And as we kept watching, I realised that this is why Amon’s propaganda is so successful (even with the fans), and this is why his “revolution” is not meant to be seen as legitimate, either: it’s straight out of Mao Zedong’s (little red) playbook.
As someone who also studies Chinese politics this was a really interesting read.
However you did lose me at “despite our never seeing proof of institutionalised class oppression.” No political representation of non-benders on the council, police crackdowns targeting non-benders and economic functions (industrialisation) usually carried out by all sectors of the population being carried out only by benders. I wish I had the post that lists all the oppression non-benders face because it is rather convincing when you read it, maybe one of my followers has a link? Either way, the idea that Amon stirred up all this sentiment simply through propaganda is disingenuous. Literally one of the first scenes in the show is a group of benders oppressing a shop keeper for money.
Also got to remember that the series is mainly from the POV of Korra, so the audience is only going to get glimpses of the hardships non-benders face. So while I certainly don’t agree with the methods Amon used, I still strongly stand by my position that he does have a valid point.
I’m going to address the second sentence of the second paragraph:
this is the most accurate thing i have ever made
here it comes
the korra fandom
Any of my tumblr pals going to the Korra art show this Saturday? I’m making the drive down with my friend and want to know who’s going.
My piece for Pixel Drip’s I’m the Avatar, Deal With It! art show coming up later this spring.
(GET IT it’s like an old SEP cover because the show’s all old-tymey, I’m so brilliant)
PixelDrip is putting together what promises to be a fantastic Korra fanart gallery show later this month, chock-full of art that people sent in physically and digitally. In addition to all the great art, there will be lots of fun activities and prizes packed into the two-day event. Mike and I, and some other Korra crew members, will likely be dropping by throughout the show. If you’re going to be in Los Angeles on March 23-24, and you’re a fan of Korra and you want to see some cool fanart (like this awesome piece by Claire Hummel) and hang out with other fans, get your tickets and come on down!
Thanks to PixelDrip for organizing this event. It means a lot to us that there are so many people who put so much energy and talent into their appreciation of our show and characters. If I can get my act together in time, I’ll be submitting something for the raffle… stay tuned. Info and links below:
